Grok Collections not "showing" on DataGrip (#3)
David opened 2 weeks ago

Hi, I can't use Collections feature on DataGrip. Here are the details:

Using Grok Assistant Monthly Plan. Followed official instructions: https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/29268-intellego-grok-ai-assistant/grok-collections-beta on DataGrip 2025.3.5.

Made sure the Management API Key has Collections and Files Access:

After adding the Grok API Key and Management Key and testing the connection, I get the successful Alert:

Api Key Test Passed Connection to Grok server works and the token is correct. Management Key test successful, Grok Collections API active.

And the "Configurations Saved" alert.

Restarted DataGrip a couple of times. Made sure I'm using the latest version.

Yet, I seem to have these Issues:

  1. Can't see the Grok Collections view or panel context menu

  1. In the "Grok Assistant" the Model Settings drop down, all options have Collection Inactive

  1. Right-click on an SQL Schema File, Grok Assistant, only three options appear: Explain, Send, Generate

Please let me know if I'm doing anything wrong or if Collections are not supported in DataGrip. Thanks!

Hi, Thank you for trying my plugin and reporting the problem. What is DataGrip? This is the first time I hear about it and I did not test the plugin on it. I will definitely fix this. Please give me a link to the DataGrip you using along with version.

I have done some digging, installed DataGrip and the grok collection view, indeed, does not show. DataGrip does not show standard Projects panes on which Grok Collection pane depends. I am doing some research on how to support DataGrip but, unfortunately I do not have any workaround or simple solution now. I will do some more digging and will keep you updated.

Hi. DataGrip is an IDE from JetBrains https://www.jetbrains.com/datagrip/ to manage databases. My goal is to use Grok Assistant to process large database schemas (databases with hundreds of tables and each table with dozens of columns) to improve (optimization) the database itself. DataGrip's native AI assistant only supports limited size schemas (few tables) I thought Grok Assistant could take advantage of Collections to process large schemas

Thank for additional information. As noted in my previous comments, I found the DataGrip IDE, installed and did some research. Unfortunately I have not found a good solution yet. It seems like DataGrip, even though based on IntelliJ, is heavily modified and does not have standard "Project" panes. Grok Collection Pane in the Intellego is based on the Project pane.

It was suggested on the internet ways to open the Project page on DataGrip but none worked for me on the newest DataGrip. So, I have not yet found a working solution. The best option would be to rewrite Grok Collection view to not base it on Project pane but this may take some time.
